What Ad Relevance Diagnostics means

Ad Relevance Diagnostics is Meta's framework for evaluating ad performance quality across three dimensions: Quality Ranking (perceived quality compared to ads targeting the same audience), Engagement Rate Ranking (expected engagement rate compared to competitors), and Conversion Rate Ranking (expected conversion rate compared to similar ads). Each dimension is rated as above average, average, or below average. These diagnostics replaced the single Relevance Score metric in 2019. For compliance professionals, low quality rankings can indicate issues — ads with low quality rankings may contain content that generates negative feedback, below-average engagement may suggest misleading headlines or poor audience match, and low conversion rankings may indicate landing page problems. Monitoring these diagnostics helps identify potential compliance issues before they trigger formal policy enforcement.
