What Business Verification means

Business verification is the process by which ad platforms confirm that a business is a legitimate, legally registered entity. This typically involves providing official business registration documents, confirming the business address (through official documents or postal verification), verifying the business phone number, and in some cases providing tax identification numbers. Meta's Business Verification process is required for certain features including custom audiences, domain verification, and access to specific ad types. Google's advertiser verification requires identity confirmation for all advertisers globally. The EU Digital Services Act mandates that platforms verify advertiser identity before allowing ads. Business verification serves as a trust signal — verified businesses may receive higher account quality scores, faster ad review, and access to more features. Failure to complete verification can result in limited functionality or account restrictions.
