Dynamic Creative Optimization
Technology that automatically generates and tests multiple ad variations by combining different creative elements.
What Dynamic Creative Optimization means
Dynamic Creative Optimization (DCO) uses platform algorithms to automatically combine different ad elements — headlines, images, videos, descriptions, and CTAs — into multiple variations, then optimizes delivery toward the best-performing combinations. Meta's Advantage+ Creative, Google's Responsive Ads, and TikTok's Smart Creative are examples of DCO features. From a compliance perspective, DCO creates challenges because the system generates combinations that may not have been individually reviewed — a compliant headline paired with a specific image might create a misleading impression. Compliance teams should review all individual elements for policy compliance and consider how combinations might be interpreted. Setting up compliance guardrails within DCO systems is essential for regulated industries.
