TikTok Shop Sets New Rules for AI-Generated Product Content (US)
TikTok Shop's 09/02/2026 US update bars AI from showing product effects, sizes, bundles or compatibility the product can't support, and limits AI before-and-after visuals.
In an update dated 09/02/2026, TikTok Shop US tightened its rules for AI-generated content (AIGC): AI must not demonstrate a core product effect the product cannot support, AI before-and-after visuals must not compress time or imply instant results without reliable evidence, and AI must not change quantity or bundle contents, enlarge items, add unsupported accessories or show unsupported compatibility.
What Changed
TikTok Shop published an update to its US page "AI-Generated Content Restrictions and Requirements", dated 09/02/2026. It applies to sellers and creators who use AI-generated or AI-edited content to promote products on TikTok Shop in the United States.
The direction is a tightening. The update spells out specific ways AI must not be used to make a product look different from what the buyer will receive.
"AIGC must not be used to demonstrate a core product effect that is not supported by the actual product, product detail page, instructions, ratings, certification, test results, or other reliable evidence.
