Meta now requires advertisers promoting financial products and services to verify their business and/or individual identity, AuditSocials Policy Tracker shows; the tracker detected the change on October 27, 2026. The previous wording said such advertisers "may be required" to do so.
The new wording appears on Meta's official Financial and Insurance Products and Services ad policy page, whose change log is dated October 26, 2026. The same sentence says advertisers "are required" to demonstrate authorization by the relevant regulatory authorities "where this is a requirement," and that Meta may review any such authorization.
A separate overview line stating that advertisers "may be required to be licensed in the country they are targeting" is unchanged.
The change applies to paid ads and affects advertisers in finance and the agencies running their campaigns. AuditSocials rated its severity as medium.
Advertisers should complete business and/or individual identity verification before running financial products and services ads on Meta. Where the targeted market requires it, they should keep proof of authorization from the relevant regulatory authority ready for Meta review.
As of October 27, 2026, the Turkish-language version of the same Meta policy page still showed the earlier "may be required" wording, AuditSocials found.
